Guardian Ad Litem Pilot Project
Senior Partners for Justice, in cooperation with the Probate & Family Court, has started a new project in the area of guardianships. This project is another way for Senior Partners to serve the most vulnerable members of the community. Here’s how the project works:
- Senior Partners will accept pro bono appointments as Guardians Ad Litem for a limited time in temporary guardianship matters involving elders and other adults with mental and physical disabilities. This pilot project is currently running in Middlesex, Suffolk and Norfolk counties.
- A SPJ GAL would be appointed immediately after the motion for temporary guardianship is filed and provide an oral or written report to the Court. The SPJ GAL's appointment would end upon the issuance of temporary orders.
- If you sign up, we will give your name and contact information to the Courts for their new Senior Partners GAL list. That’s all you need to do to get started. The Courts will contact you directly to make GAL appointments in guardianship cases.
- Training, mentoring, and practice materials are available to Senior Partners GALs.
For more information , please contact Senior Partners for Justice Project Manager Barbara Siegel at 617-423-0648 x123 or bsiegel@vlpnet.org.
